Vince Carter is a professional American basketball player, often known for his role in the Vince Carter Slam Dunk Contest of 2000. This was one of the most well known and exciting contests in the world of NBA basketball.
Taking place in Oakland, California over an All-Star weekend, it rapidly came to be widely known as one of the best known dunk contests in the history of the NBA. At the time, Vince Carter was playing for the team, the Toronto Raptors. This team was also the eventual winner. At the time, he was playing with his cousin and also his teammate, Tracy McGrady and Steve Francis of Houston Rockets fame.
The historic year 2000 Vince Carter Slam Dunk Contest was also Vince\’s first attempt at this particular contest, and was even better known for the fact that Vince Carter made the first reverse full 360 ever. Not only that, but he also windmilled the ball.
In fact, the show was so well known and widely respected, that it continues to be widely discussed to this day and any search on YouTube will reveal plenty of professional and fan made videos dedicated to this impressive feat.
In addition to his performance in the Slam Dunk Contest, Vince Carter\’s career in basketball is also well known and respected for a number of other key events and rewards. Having won the NBA All-Star eight times in total, that is just the beginning of his impressive portfolio of awards. He has also accomplished the All-NBA award and earned an Olympic gold medal in 2009.
Vince Carter is now playing Orlando Magic, continuing to progress with his basketball career. Until he joined this team, he was with the New Jersey Nets.
